Origin of Mountain Biking

Mountain bikes originated in 1977 and were modified from regular bicycles by Scott, a student at the University of California in the United States. They were derived and developed by driving bicycles for pattern racing on off-road surfaces during motorcycle races. In the future, a form of sports gradually formed and became popular in Europe and America.

In 1979, a company named "Ricky Mountain Bike" was established, which is the origin of the name "Mountain Bike".

In 1983, the US Mountain Cycling Championships were held.

With the prosperity of the mountain bike market, professional teams have gradually begun to establish. In 1987, Europe held its first large-scale race, an informal mountain bike race held in France.

In 1988, Grundig Electric Manufacturing Company in Germany organized the European "Grundig Challenge Cup" competition.

In 1990, the International Cycling Union announced recognition of this sport.

In 1991, the Mountain Cycling World Cup was held for the first time in San Francisco, USA.

In 1996, it became an official event of the Olympic Games.
